• Learning to Be Happy from Within

Hey Everyone! I hope you are doing well. It’s been a while since I’ve been on here. There’s been so much going on lately and I’ve found it hard to sit down on at my computer and write. I guess I’ve been having a lot of writers block lately. there’s so much happening in the world, it feels almost trivial to write my blog when there are so many things I should be devoting my time too. The past few weeks, I’ve been debating whether I should publish a blog post because I’m not sure whether it would be insensitive to everything going on, you know? There are so many…

  • My Favorite Makeup Brushes… In Blue of course.

When it comes to makeup application, having good makeup brushes is a must. The quality of your brushes can really determine the outcome of your look. One of my favorite purchases from the recent Black Friday was the Luxie Dreamcatcher Brush Set. I’ve wanted these brushes for a while and Black Friday was the perfect opportunity to purchase them. I was able to get them for $70 which I felt was a really good price considering that they’re usually over $100. Before I bought the brushes I did a lot of research on different brush sets and decided that these were the set I wanted. Being that they are a…

  • Taking Time to Check-in With Yourself. Selfcare.

One of my favorite songs this week has been Hell and High Water by Major Lazer, Alessia Cara, and Diplo. I love the song because it talks about getting back up after going through something rough. It talks about things knocking you down but being able to get back up and keep going. Despite the hardship, you’re able to keep moving. Over the years, one thing I’ve learned about myself is that every now and then, I’ve got to take some mental health time. I didn’t really start doing this until I got older. I got older which meant that I was learning about a lot that was hard to…

  • The Seasons Are Changing, is Your Skincare?

Now that fall is here, there are a lot of changes that I make to some of my usual routines. Especially in my skincare. When it comes to taking care of my skin, that’s something that I’m really passionate about. Learning about my skin and what works well for it is something that has taken me years to figure out. Even today, there are still some things that I’m still learning. One of the first steps to figuring out your skincare routine is to figure out what type of skin you have. Is it combination, sensitive, dry, oily? This will help you determine what ingredients you need in your skincare…

  • A little Bit About Me

Hey Guys! What’s up? I hope you are all doing well! So, I realized that I’m writing this blog and you don’t really know much about me. So, I figure you should get to know me a little bit. You already know my wonderful alias, “BISBoss”, that’s me! I grew up in Brooklyn, New York and I lived there until I moved out of the city, about two months ago. I’m 20 years old and born in July, so I’m a Cancer. I am currently a Sophomore in college. I’m supposed to be a junior but since I took a gap year and went to Cosmetology School, I’m a year…

  • Pressing Procrastination and How to Get Rid of It.

How many times have you sat behind your computer, knowing that you have work to get done but instead, you open up Netflix, and before you know it you’ve watched an entire movie and gotten no work done? I know I have. I’ll know very well that I have a lot of work to get done but somehow, that work doesn’t get done and I stress myself out about it the night before. With the distraction of social media and other apps, it’s SO easy to get distracted. It doesn’t help that Netflix takes less than 30 seconds to load my favorite show. Maybe if it took longer, I’d get…

  • What Does Beauty Mean to You?

That’s a fair question, right? Some would say that it’s easy enough to answer. To some beauty is something that’s easily defined. It’s not complicated and they know it when they see it. Many people cannot say the same. Beauty is a term that is vast and has so many definitions. It’s always evolving and because of this, some do not know what truly defines beauty. I mean, what is beauty? How can we really define it? Sure, we all have people or things that we believe are beautiful but beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Therefore, what’s beautiful to me is not always going to be beautiful…

  • State Board Part 2

Hey Guys! How have you been? I hope you’ve been doing well. So, as promised this is my update about my State Board Practical. I actually went to take it yesterday and it wasn’t too bad. I was really nervous going there. I felt like I was about to go and perform in front of 100’s of people (which I’ve done before lol). I had that familiar feeling of nerves, mostly because I had no idea what to expect. Plus it was pouring out and I was not trying to get soaked before going inside where they were probably going to be blasting the air conditioner. Other than it raining,…

  • Test Taking

Hey Guys! I know I’m updating late but it’s with good reason. I’ve been studying like mad for the Cosmetology State Board Written Exam. I was trying to get everything in my brain so that I would be prepared for the test. Looking back it probably wasn’t a good idea to try and cram everything a week before the test but somehow I did it. Preparation for the test was very stressful. Imagine trying to study 6-7 months worth of stuff in one week. It’s practically impossible so I focused on the things I ha no remembrance of. I studied skin and nails and went over the basics for everything…

  • 1000 Hours of Happiness

Hey Guys! I know it’s been a while since I last updated. I’ve been busy graduating-Lol. I finally finished Cosmetology School! I officially clocked out with 1000 hours last week, May 22 and it felt so good. It was such a relief. Half of me said “Thank God I don’t have to deal with this anymore,” and the other half said, “Aww I’m kind of going to miss it.” I’m just happy I graduated. I’m on my way to becoming a Licensed Cosmetologist and a great future. I won’t lie to you. School had lots of drama- stuff I’m so glad I don’t have to deal with anymore but it…
